I can't seem to decide if he is trying to just be friendly or wants to somehow take advantage of Jennifer :-?

I like the expression Jennifer has in the first panel. She seems to be staring out at something full of determination to succeed at what she has set her mind to.
Early to rise and early to bed makes a man healthy and wealthy but socially dead.
