Puella Magi Madoka Magica?

The Madoka Magica anime is pretty popular on both sides of the Pacific, and the anime is getting dubbed by Aniplex USA. The franchise also has three manga: The adaptation of the anime (same title, completed), Puella Magi Kazumi Magica: Innocent Malice (currently ongoing), and Puella Magi Oriko Magica (completed). A light(?) novel also is coming out/came out this month.

I was wondering if you guys (Seven Seas) know about them and might consider bringing these manga and LN overseas?

Oh, I adore the anime and would love to work on the manga.
The chance of that happening...? The Magic 8 Ball says, "Outlook not so good."

May I ask what's keeping Seven Seas from licensing Madoka Magica?

Really? All three Madoka mangas are licensed by Houbunsha, which doesn't have any deals with any other NA publisher. So the only conclusion is that 7 Seas isn't licensing the mangas is due to financial reasons.

Sorry if i hit the mark.

We're in the process of finalizing several new Japanese licenses that will come out in 2012. Magica is, sadly, not one of them. It has nothing to do with money. In fact, Japanese publishers look at other factors other than the amount bid for a series when they decide who to license to. I love the series, but it's not a title that we can get, sadly.

Personally, I'd be happy as long as one of the manga series gets picked up by *someone* and given a good translation and adaptation. It would be a shame for them to stay in scanslation limbo, with the licensed anime coming out and all.

In case anyone hasn't heard, Yen Press just picked this up.

I wonder which of the three series it will be? I'm guessing the adapted-from-anime one.

It's the adaption. Spinoffs will likely come after if it sells well enough.

Yeah, Yen Press has been doing all the Higurashi: When They Cry spin-offs so far. Plus a number of Haruhi spin-offs.

Yeah, and they just licensed the Nagato Yuki-Chan manga.
BTW if you like Haruhi and haven't read those yet - read them! They are awesome!
