I hope this isn't the departure. I remember Adam saying this chapter would be leonard and two others. But I really hope one of them isn't Lita.

Besides, if the trio Adam mentioned is Leonard with Katie and Lita, then there would be no Vampjre Cheerleaders in the group. And then the story would have the wrong title

Wasn't the reason we skipped the rescue that PMS were too unpopular? Why throw a chapter starring Leonard and PMS for one starring just Leonard and Katie? Someone's coming along...

I don't recall anyone here showing a particularly strong dislike for PMS... not on the scale of the dislike for the cheerleader mosquitoes, anyway. Of course, my memory may be biased.

As for VC vs PMS, I think the original intention was to kill off VC, but when Adam & co looked at the reads / comments, they discovered VC were more popular than PMS - hence when VCMD started, PMS moved to the VC domain. Adam's got to a delicate balancing act, because while there were fans who liked both storylines, many VC fans hated PMS and many PMS fans hated VC - so trying to find an alternative storyline that keep as many of all three groups of fans visiting must have been an interesting creative process

After all, the VCs are fairly harmless (as far as vampires go) - they don't tend to kill their meals and (in Lori's case at least) have successfully blended in with the 'normal' student popution for the past century; while PMS have redefined their approach to Cryptids since both their encounters with PETM and Katie's were conversion. I suspect that the events leading up to the burning of PETM's research headquarters and the escape of the VCs is likely to have a direct bearing on the relationship between the two groups - although that in itself may be superseded by whatever's happened to Stephanie.

It would have been interesting to have had a few more indications of how the relationships between and within the two groups was panning out since Adam put both leaders (Lita and Stephanie) on the proverbial bus, but hopefully we'll get to see what happens when the proverbial bus comes back (hopefully both will return - then we may get an instance where the joint volume cover of Stephanie and Lita standing together back-to-back happens in canon!)

Lori was the vamp leader. Lita's the annoying demon ghost in this strip.

As for comics, I didn't see many criticisms of the PMS here, and even saw some positive comments about them on another forum's general discusion board. Hell, I even saw shelfer talk about hating Heather. So I doubt it was fan reaction that saved the VCs. In fact, from what Adam said they never intended to kill the vampires, but did have more story planned that got skipped.

Sadly, this is the old web. We're sort of the fandom equivalent of Ron Paul nuts. The Facebook fans are the voice of the people, and the people are basically thousands of TBeholders.

While the Pixie Trix Forum has been largely civil overall and basically either neutral to Pro-PMS, Facebook has been Pro-VC to such an extreme that there were readers basically calling Stephanie a Nazi towards the end of the last story arc. And it was having a negative impact on people's enjoyment of the series...and our hits. So, we're doing something completely unexpected for our final(?) Vampire Cheerleaders book.
