Anything like that is possible, but not necessary or even terribly likely from what we know. Ruby has never spelled out her problems in one place, but actually, we have plenty of explanations for her attitude. Look, we know that she:Derfman wrote:I predict that when we find out why Ruby is hostile to Amber, the real hostility not the normal sibling rivalry that they have mentioned already, that it will be about a boy.
(a) Had difficulty making friends when she was at school, and wanted to be friends with Amber at one point, but was locked out of Amber's room.
(b) Saw that Amber porn movie at that teen party when she was about 14, which she likely found intensely embarassing or humiliating, and very possibly downright terrifying.
(c) Subsequently kept Amber's career secret from their parents for several years, probably at Amber's instigation, certainly with Amber's knowledge - despite Ruby being habitually truthful and with a strong sense of conventional morality.
(d) Believes that Amber is their parents' favourite. Note that Ruby has pursued a conventional career path involving years of academic work; Amber ... hasn't. Ruby probably feels that she deserves the parental approval.
(e) Has been sent to live with Amber by their parents, and suffered a string of petty embarassments and humiliations within hours of her arrival.
In other words, Ruby associates Amber with humilliation, fear, deception, and emotional exclusion. From her point of view, Ruby does everything right while Amber is an uneducated lying whore, but it's Amber who gets the love, the friendship, and the career. Heck, Amber even got in the way when Ruby was trying to watch Dillon kissing Ray, the first time round. We don't really need any further explanation; on her own terms, Ruby has every reason to hate Amber.

Silly Dillon. Should have at least put a locked door between you and Ruby before letting her know she'd be "shared" between you and Amber. This way leaves you open to a choking. Or at least hurting ears.
Okay, so there are now two questions to be answered here;
1) Will Ruby take the job? Even desperate as she is, her pride and anger toward Amber may prevent her from taking a job that essentially requires her to be at her hated sister's beck and call.
2) If Ruby does take the job, could it lead to her(eventually)resolving her anger toward Amber, once she actually gets to know her sister better? Or (2a) will knowing Amber better increase her hatred? And perhaps make it mutual?

Yes. Basic dramatic technique; you don't set up a possibility and then close it down without getting anything out of it. Or at least, you try not to; the Pixietrix crew occasionally fluff that rule, but this option is too much front and centre to be abandoned.themacnut wrote:1) Will Ruby take the job?
It may take a little working round to, of course. However, while Ruby spends much of her time bubbling with incoherent anger at Amber, something - politeness, family loyalty, embarrassment - mostly prevents her from confronting her sister directly. She'd now have to do so to withdraw this offer, so she may feel that she's stuck with the situation she hates.
If she did make her resentment clear, though, the obvious next step here would be for Dillon to drag Ruby aside and ask what her problem is with Amber. We might even get some useful clarification that way. On the other hand, that would be unusually talky for a Giz script, so I wouldn't bet on it. It's not like we don't know several reasons why Ruby may have this problem already - see my previous post.
Oh, I'm sure that sorting out their problem eventually is a big part of Ruby and Amber's character development arc, and this PA arrangement will surely be part of it. How long it will take and what else will be involved, Giz alone knows.themacnut wrote:2) If Ruby does take the job, could it lead to her(eventually)resolving her anger toward Amber, once she actually gets to know her sister better?
Ruby's problems with Amber are historical and aren't based on fundamental misconceptions, so getting to know her better is unlikely to help much in itself. It's possible that Amber will go through some rough times, showing Ruby that Amber doesn't actually get everything her own way (I do have a bad feeling about Amber's relationship with Ray), but who knows? Equally, Amber isn't likely to do very much that will provoke Ruby further - though if she looks too smug about her sex life, Ruby is unlikely to approve.themacnut wrote:Or (2a) will knowing Amber better increase her hatred? And likewise again, I can't see Ruby doing much to annoy Amber very badly. If she takes the job at all, she's most likely to be coldly professional about it, I'd think - and Amber isn't Dillon, so Ruby is unlikely to have to get too horribly bossy with her.

The interesting thing is that it's taken him this long. He may have thought that he'd seen her angry, but actually he's just seen her loudly excited, and maybe irate once or twice. I'm fairly certain that this is the first time she's got him looking scared.
