While I agree that shifting the atmosphere of a show from positive to negative is evil, it doesn't exactly make something better than something else. In my personal opinion, the weight of something is measured by the dedication from its creator. Gen Urobuchi used the reality we know as a basis for his story with an addition of science-fiction. Martin created an entire world with its own history and cultures using history as a basis. There is a reason why people praise JRR Tolkien a lot and it's not because of how good his work is; rather it's that he dedicated a lot of time to make an entire language for his stories. When I go into an anime or a manga, I determine what is being shown to me: a created world, a alternate timeline, an adventure in the cosmos. I doubt most people are willing to go the extra 100,000 miles that many respected authors take when they make up a story. The reason the Star Wars Extended Universe has been declared null and void is because it was devised by people who were not George Lucas, thus what was once thought to be the definitive history of his creation is in actuality not. Whatever Lucas had his hand in is what is canon.
As much as I hate Avatar I will admit that it was clever to create a language and culture that most likely was only going to be used once. If I am measuring the greatness of literature, I try to find out how dedicated the creator was when they started the project. In my personal opinion, few can measure up to Tolkien. Martin could have come close if he had determined how long his series was really going to be, as he initially meant it to be a trilogy. Now, he says it might be eleven books. The guy can't figure out when he will end his series, despite knowing how he'll end it.
I'm not trying to change your opinion, if that's the vibe I'm sending out. I'm trying to tell you that greatness is measured in so many ways it's hard to tell what is truly greater than something else. There's a reason why wars have been fought solely on religious purposes. To me, greatness in literature is measured by how many years an author dedicated to creating the story.

A Song of Ice and Fire may be fun and giggles to you, but as it is essentially a reflection of pre-Renaissance Europe, it shows just how shitty the world once was.
I haven't said that it's good. I have just said that it's bleak and depressing.

They disguise themselves as cute talking pets, offer little girls to become Magical Girls in exchange for a single wish (wish that usually backfires).

The mission of the Magical Girls is to fight the Witches, evil magical beings who feed on human souls. The catch is, the more they use their magic, the more corrupted their souls become, until they are transformed into witches themselves.

The only way to stave the transformation is to kill witches and give their souls to the aliens. So the aliens turn little girls into monsters, and later make other little girls kill them and offer their souls, and that other little girls do it only to slow down the process that will turn them into witches that will in turn be killed and have their souls removed...etc.

It's as if the humans were cattle for the aliens, but the aliens make their cattle butcher and process each other in exchange for living a bit longer.

And worst of all, the story is initially presented as a funny, silly story about japanese schoolgirls becoming Magical Girls with cute talking pets. Compared to that, A Song Of Ice and Fire is all fun and giggles. That's why I said that Gen Urobuchi is much worse than GRRM.
Yeah, when you put it that way, Puella Magi does not make sense in the real world. First of all, I seriously doubt that in the real world, a super-advanced race would just not be able to use 'magic' full-stop or that magic would be the only solution to their issues
Gen has some serious problem in his psychology and he has been called out on that and just says "Hey, deal with it!"... which is his right to do, I guess.
Doesn't make his stuff any less crappy or fail-fodder in my opinion.
It just anime. You shouldn't think too much about those details, or it falls apart.

I know it's just a comic but I do get hung up on stupid details. I mean...how the hell is Leonard supposed to focus on gaming or watching anything when there's a whole room surrounded by monitors each playing different shit! I mean, I get the joke and all, but if I did something like that it'd be nothing but noise, noise, noise!

And this is from someone who can play a video game, surf the internet and watch a video simultaneously.

Have you tried watching three different shows at the same time? My friend's parakeet was placed in the hall where that just happened to be a common occur acne. He ended up learning practically every word in the English language and was able to hold an actual conversation with someone.

Yeah, I don't think I could do that for all three shows. I might be able to do something where I listen to one and look at the other. But two shows which require both my ears and my eyes? That I can't do let alone three shows.

Maybe in the 27th century you can get neural ugrades that allow you to follow multiple media simultaneously?

So that's the series ending.

It was ummm, quite unexpected.

Thank goodness there's still fanfiction.

Lots of stuff I can do with the VC characters now and make things different.

*Goes back to work on his fic where Emma lives and she and Lori get transported to Skyrim and they actually defeat Alduin.*

....Skyrim? Seriously? I'm sure the Dragonborn can handle the Civil War, the Return of the Dragons, the Revival of the Thieves Guild, the Rebirth of the Dark Brotherhood, and everything else that went on all by him or herself

Lori is the Dragonborn, Emma's her wife.

I'm still wrapping my head around the fact that I missed that detail. Thanks

Hello, I just finished the ending and god wow. did any one else notice that the new images that hint the universe is not over aka the frankinstine bitches or some thing.http://www.vampirecheerleaders.net/stri ... ce_lavenza This could be the second possibity that we have all been trolled AND there will be another continuation or at least a side series, witch would make it a side manga to a side manga, and it is a manga. Also I am supprised not many people talk about this series ether in the west or the east. I mean why? This is good, the writters did a decent job (THE ENDING IS PARAMONT!!! ~X( :-L ). I am honestly supprised no made a OVA or something, and don't give me it is a small and unknown bullshit. There are anime about drool (mysterios grilfreind X), and exersice and bathing (hemico series), so why has no one noticed this? Also to all the idiots who complained about the VC, just remember both are spin offs of AOI house and while it was awesome in my opion every issue you guys bring up AOI house did 1000X and it was still funny. Again the ending was ahhh, you know what I am going to be honest...It sucked. It makes me feel bad, in fact it is worse the Paula Modka Magica Rebellions ending, Letter Bee had a better ending so did chobits, serial expiments lain, Rail Wars!, (I am listing things on the top of my head), the mikle bay movies. There are just so many things that make no dam sence, and there are so many questions that you left unanswered that I am going ("AHHHHHHHHH, what it ends here, this is the end, this herim scene is littery the last page. What the fuck."), That is not inclduing that you did not show the fall of petm ark and all we got was two pages of text that is confuseing and hard to follow WTF. (RAGES). Not only that it took for ever to join the dam fourm. (eyes twich). Again art is good as usaly.http://www.vampirecheerleaders.net/stri ... ies_finale Ok everyone lets play what is wrong with the ending.

Frankenbitches was a pitched idea but it wasn't approved.

Actually, this was approved--hence, why part of the script exists.

From the Frankenbitches thread:
viewtopic.php?f=72&t=15995
"The third book was originally going to have Frankenbitches as the lead story and Vampire Cheerleaders Must Die! as the back-up. Due to the costs of having two different art teams (and VC's success as a webcomic), Frankenbitches was shelved with the intention of us coming back to it at a later time. That didn't happen, but the story itself is important to the Vampire Cheerleaders canon, so that's why I'm presenting this now. Frankenbitches might still happen at some point, who knows."

Give the page another read. Specifically Leonard's dialogue.
