Hmm. Most of that, I agree with.
Except for the possibility of big sister thinking that Ruby was the favourite. Something about the way she objected to Ruby saying that she was seems to contradict that, somehow.

Re: 25-02-13 That was uncalled for
Hard to say. She may think that Ruby is actually the favourite, but be trying to de-escalate this old familiar argument rather than saying so. Or she may once have thought that, but have worked out what the problem was somewhere along the line.
The trouble with this situation - if it is the situation - is that very little Amber can say will convince Ruby. It'll just look to her like the favourite spinning a line of smug BS. "You're so used to being the favourite that you don't even realise it".
And, equally, if Amber is the favourite, she may be so used to it that she doesn't even realise it. Or if the parents did everything right, and Ruby is just bitter and twisted for no reason, that's how she'll perceive things. It may be interesting to see what Amber says to Dillon about this.

On the other hand, there doesn't have to be any parental favoritism, real or perceived, involved. It could be as simple as Ruby does not like having a porn star(even a former porn star) as a sister, and also despises her for having to keep that secret from their parents to avoid hurting them. That by itself could generate a lot of resentment. Throw in Ruby being ignored by boys in favor of Amber when they were younger (as Error suggested), and well, it's probably a miracle they're on any kind of speaking terms at all.

Re: 25-02-13 That was uncalled for
Ruby was quite specific about Amber being "Mom & Dad's favourite daughter", Amber told her to stop saying that, and Ruby came back with "But you are!". It looks to me like this perception is a clear, old, and persistent issue between them, justified or not.
Incidentally, if Amber did distract any boys from Ruby back in the day, even if it was unintentional, or if she otherwise embarrassed or caused trouble for her kid sister (and big sisters do that, even if they don't have Amber's looks and runaway teenage libido), it's possible that she later realised and now feels guilty about it. If anyone's keeping count, that could be yet another reason why Amber feels obliged to put her up and put up with her.

Another possible storyline: Ruby shows up to take something to or get something from Amber at the set and the director suddenly gushes over her wanting her in the project. Could lead to friction with Amber, or a funny case where she and Dillion have to act together leading to class-A awkwardness.

Didn't we just have that plot with Senna and Sandra? I don't see Team GiDa CaTS repeating itself so much.
Pointless arguing is one of the three pillars upon which the Internet is built. The other two are of course cat pictures and porn.

Amber was "cute" but was not gorgeous, before Zii, she never thought of sex as something very fun that she could make a career, and she was a senior, not a freshman in high school, when Zii intro her into girl-girl

I feel sorry for Ruby...she's going to have a rough time of things...plus, yeah, somehow I have a horrible sense that, unless she's into gay men, dates of either sex could end up choosing Amber over her.

Well, if she's a prude, she may attract prudish dates.

No, that's sort of the central point here. Since we know almost nothing there's very little we can rule out. If we try to guess details there are many which are possible but unlikely, yet the truth is in there somewhere. (And, as in real life, some of those possibilities are seriously unpleasant. Ignoring them makes it difficult to avoid them.)Spidrift wrote:Do I really have to point out that we know zero about the LaRose parents....
I guess I didn't make this clear, but I have little interest in reading, let alone writing, slashfic.Spidrift wrote:....dumb wanky slashfic.
Second, if that had been intended as slashfic it would have been pages long (at least), not just a few lines.
Last, I would have been writing about something that turned me on, not something that squicked me out.

Okay, my impression of Ruby continues to be mixed. Passive aggressive, bad. Apology, good. Automatically assuming that Man equals perv, Bad. Granny gown, for some reason, good.

I thought her assumption of Man being Perv was 'good', it isn't?

Not for me. I don't like it when people make snap judgement about other people. Especially if they haven't even met them yet.

Well, maybe most men have been very mean to her in the past.

I certainly won't rule out the possibility. But somehow I think it's a taught perspective, rather than a learned one
